Training content
Overview
The Chemical Concentration Calculations course focuses on understanding the different ways of expressing concentration in solutions and correctly performing basic concentration calculations.
Scope
- Concepts of solution, solvent and solute
- Concentration units and expressions
- Calculations based on mass, volume and amount of substance
- Dilution and solution preparation calculations
- Unit conversions and verification of results
Objectives and Outcomes
The aim of the training is to enable participants to interpret chemical concentration expressions and perform solution calculations using the appropriate equations.
By the End of the Training
- Distinguish between the concepts of solute, solvent, solution and concentration.
- Interpret percentage concentration, molarity and other common concentration expressions.
- Calculate concentration using the given mass, volume and amount of substance data.
- Determine the amount of solute or solution required to achieve the target concentration.
- Perform dilution calculations.
- Convert units in calculations and check the consistency of the results.
