Overview

ISO 50001 Energy Management System Transition Training has been designed to review existing Energy Management Systems against the current ISO 50001 requirements, understand the climate change considerations introduced by ISO 50001:2018/Amd 1:2024, and enable organisations to effectively adapt their management systems to the current requirements.

The training is based on the requirements of ISO 50001:2018 and ISO 50001:2018/Amd 1:2024. ISO 50001 specifies the Energy Management System requirements for organisations to continually improve their energy performance, energy efficiency, energy use and energy consumption through a systematic approach.

The language of the training is Turkish. The training is delivered online.

About the Training

The training covers the structure of the ISO 50001 Energy Management System, current requirements, the impact of climate change on the context of the organisation, the needs and expectations of interested parties, energy policy, energy planning, energy review, significant energy uses, energy performance indicators, energy baselines, energy data collection, risks and opportunities, energy objectives, operational controls, design and procurement processes, energy performance monitoring, gap analysis of the existing system, and update planning.

FAQ and Resources

Who is the ISO 50001 Energy Management System Transition Training suitable for?

It is intended for professionals working in energy management, sustainability, technical maintenance, facilities management, production, operations, management systems and auditing within organisations that implement the ISO 50001 Energy Management System.

What is the main objective of the training?

The main objective is to enable participants to understand the current ISO 50001 requirements, identify the updates required in the existing Energy Management System and effectively plan the adaptation of the system to the current requirements.

What change was introduced by ISO 50001:2018/Amd 1:2024?

The amendment requires the organisation to determine whether climate change is a relevant issue that could affect the achievement of the intended outcomes of the Energy Management System and to consider that relevant interested parties may have requirements related to climate change.

Has a new version of ISO 50001 been published?

No. The current published base standard is ISO 50001:2018. The standard was reviewed again by ISO in 2024 and the current version was confirmed. In current practice, ISO 50001:2018/Amd 1:2024 should be considered together with ISO 50001:2018.

Does the energy review need to be updated?

The organisation should regularly evaluate energy use and consumption data, significant energy uses, relevant variables affecting energy performance and opportunities for improving energy performance. Significant changes to the system or circumstances may require the energy review to be updated.

Why are energy performance indicators and energy baselines important?

Energy performance indicators are used to measure and monitor the organisation's energy performance. Energy baselines provide reference points against which changes in energy performance can be compared.

Is climate change considered within the scope of ISO 50001?

Yes. ISO 50001:2018/Amd 1:2024 explicitly emphasises that organisations must determine whether climate change is relevant to their context and consider the climate change-related requirements of relevant interested parties.

Should a gap analysis be conducted for the transition?

Yes. It is useful to conduct a gap analysis to compare the existing Energy Management System with the current requirements, identify processes that are incomplete or require updating and plan the necessary actions.

Does the training include practical exercises?

Yes. The training includes practical exercises on energy reviews, significant energy uses, energy performance indicators, energy baselines, data analysis, climate change scenarios, gap analysis and preparation of an update plan.

Is there an examination at the end of the training?

Yes. An assessment examination is administered at the end of the training.
