Overview

ISO 46001 Water Efficiency Management Systems Awareness Training has been designed to help organisations ensure the efficient and sustainable use of water, systematically monitor water consumption, identify water efficiency opportunities and understand the requirements of the ISO 46001 Water Efficiency Management System.

The training is based on the current requirements of ISO 46001:2019 and ISO 46001:2019/Amd 1:2024. ISO 46001 provides a systematic approach to managing water efficiency in organisations of all types and sizes that use water, and particularly supports the approach of reduction, replacement with alternative sources and reuse.

The language of the training is Turkish. The training is delivered online.

About the Training

The training covers the structure of the ISO 46001 standard, the fundamental principles of the Water Efficiency Management System, the context of the organisation, leadership, water policy, water use review, significant water uses, evaluation of water consumption data, water efficiency indicators, water baseline, risks and opportunities, water objectives and action plans, operational controls, water use reduction, use of alternative water sources, water reuse, monitoring and measurement, performance evaluation and continual improvement.

Who Should Attend?

  • Employees wishing to learn about the ISO 46001 Water Efficiency Management System
  • Environmental and sustainability officers
  • Water and energy management teams
  • Quality and management system officers
  • Production and operations personnel
  • Technical maintenance and infrastructure teams
  • Facility and building management personnel
  • Environmental engineers and technical specialists
  • Risk and compliance teams
  • Personnel involved in water efficiency initiatives

Objectives and Outcomes

The aim is for participants to understand the requirements of ISO 46001 and the fundamental approach of the Water Efficiency Management System, comprehend how water use within the organisation is assessed, identify water efficiency opportunities and learn how their own duties contribute to improving water performance.

By the End of the Training

Participants will be able to:

  • Explain the purpose, scope and basic structure of the ISO 46001 standard.
  • Understand the fundamental principles of the Water Efficiency Management System.
  • Assess the organisation's water use and water consumption points.
  • Explain the approach to identifying significant water uses.
  • Understand the concepts of water efficiency indicators and the water baseline.
  • Identify risks and opportunities relating to water consumption.
  • Explain the importance of water objectives and action plans.
  • Understand approaches to reducing water use, replacing water with alternative sources and reusing water.
  • Explain the importance of monitoring, measurement and data analysis in water efficiency.
  • Contribute to identifying water losses and areas of inefficiency.
  • Understand the impact of the continual improvement approach on water performance.
  • Determine how they can contribute to the effectiveness of the Water Efficiency Management System.

Attendance and Certificate

Certification Rule

A certificate of attendance is issued to all participants whose attendance has been confirmed. To receive a certificate of achievement, participants must obtain a passing grade in the examination at the end of the training; participants who use all their examination attempts but do not pass will be issued a certificate of attendance.

FAQ and Resources

Who is the ISO 46001 Water Efficiency Management Systems Awareness Training suitable for?

It is intended for professionals working in water efficiency, the environment, sustainability, production, technical maintenance, facility management, quality and management systems, or those wishing to contribute to improving water use within their organisation.

What is the main objective of the training?

The aim is for participants to understand the fundamental requirements of the ISO 46001 Water Efficiency Management System, comprehend how water consumption is systematically managed and be able to contribute to improving water efficiency.

Which organisations is ISO 46001 intended for?

ISO 46001 can be applied to organisations of all types and sizes that use water. The standard focuses particularly on the systematic management of water use by end users and on improving efficiency.

Which areas are assessed under ISO 46001?

Areas assessed include water use and consumption, significant water-use areas, the water baseline, performance indicators, objectives, operational controls, measurement and monitoring, water losses, alternative water sources, reuse and continual improvement.

What is the reduce, replace and reuse approach?

Reduction means lowering current water consumption through methods such as water-efficient equipment, process improvements and leak prevention; replacement means using rainwater, reclaimed water or other alternative sources instead of drinking water where appropriate; and reuse means reusing flows such as process water or greywater.

Is climate change considered under ISO 46001?

Yes. Under ISO 46001:2019/Amd 1:2024, the organisation is expected to determine whether climate change is a relevant issue within its context and to consider the climate change-related requirements of relevant interested parties.

Does the training include practical activities?

Yes. The training uses assessments of water-use points, interpretation of consumption data, water efficiency indicators, examples of losses and leaks, reduction scenarios, alternative water source use and reuse scenarios, as well as case studies.

Is there an examination at the end of the training?

Yes. An assessment examination is conducted at the end of the training.
